I went to the bank today. I got some cash and some traveller's cheques, which means I am now completely prepared for going to China on Thursday: I've got money, I've got my passport and visa, I've got an apartment, and I've got a job. I am totally ready.

Except, of course, I have no idea what my job is. I mean, I know who I'm working for, and I know what the company itself does, but it's never really been made clear to me what I'll actually be doing. It could be answering phones or filing or doing actual work. I've been in contact with my boss by email; he says he's preparing some "projects" for me to work on while I'm there. I don't really know what that means.

Things could be way worse, though. I could be like last year: when I arrived in Beijing, I wasn't sure that I had a place to stay or even anything to do. (My enrollment at BLCU was a little bit up in the air even at the time that I got on the plane to O'Hare.) At least this way I have somewhere to live and somewhere I'm supposed to show up on Monday. Rest assured, I'll be there.
