Recently, I'd been feeling really down and seeing other people's success stories was just making it worse. It seems to always be like this for me, even back in high school, and I'm still not used to it.
I spent most of the day picking up around the house and catching up on shows and sleep. I half-expected a phone call from work either saying I was scheduled or that they were short and needed me to cover but neither of those things happened. My nap ran late (It was very necessary.) and I got to the munch late. No worries though. C.I.C. was already there but I think he's learned his lesson (Heh, Dominants can be trained too.), or he now avoids discussing things that others disagree with.
I did like a brief discussion about "little things", which I absolutely love. Little things like coffee and comments (anonymous or not) really keep me grounded and focused. The idea of chauffeuring (with certain, negotiated terms) piqued my interest as well. Friday sounds fun and driving a few streets over (for any reason) is no problem. I've driven the difficult part of Hwy 17 while slipping in and out (There's that phrase again.) of subspace.
When I got home, I found my stimulus check in the mail. I have plans for some of it. I just hope I don't burn through it all like my graduation money. I know I have loads of investments thanks to the foresight of my father, but this will be completely *mine* (Technically the other stuff is mine too and I can have it liquidated in a heartbeat, but I'm not that masochistic.). I'm thinking a simple CD, but the rates completely suck (Have they ever been good?). I'll research it for a bit.
Finished up the original "Funny Games" and I liked it. The only thing that annoyed me about it was that it was in German. The subtitles were fine, but it's difficult to do anything else while watching a subbed movie. I was in the mood for something dark and this didn't disappoint. I can't wait to see the remake.
Speaking of movies, I've decided to see "Hancock" and "Wall E" in the theater. They just seem too good to pass up and I want to start testing my will at Eastridge. So what if they have a Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond (Shut up!), a Red Robin, and a Chili's... Yeah, I'm gonna need a safe call.
I do miss the days when they had an arcade. I've never braved a Nickel City (Field trip?) and Dave & Buster's is a bit expensive and always seems way too crowded. I remember in college the Sundays when Starcraft (I still have a hacked disk lying around somewhere.) in the lab just wouldn't do it. So I'd set my away messages and hop a bus to the boardwalk. Ten bucks worth of tokens always lasted a long time, especially on pinball. Plus, that's where, in my youth, I became quite adept at those claw games (Luck has nothing to do with it.).
