Movie day, indie style
Watched Blue State and The Nines this morning when I couldn't get back to sleep around 7AM. Both were pretty decent. Anna Paquin and Breckin Meyer were cute in Blue State, though I think the political message it was conveying is getting a bit worn out by now. I'm so tired of politics and the war.
The Nines was mindfuckingly beautiful. I saw all the hints, but did not put it together in the end. Perhaps I was distracted by Melissa McCarthy (so cute). I really liked the ending though; it was sweet.
I'm way bummed we don't have today off. My first year tutoring was awesome. We had most holidays off and, during Xmas, we had a two week shut down. Now we only observe a handful of holidays and are back open two days after Xmas. Well, since we've been enforcing the unexcused absence policy, we've had way more call-ins. I suspect today is going to have a lot of missing kids. I'm still getting over that M is gone. Friday was her last day. Now I truly have seniority over all of management and there's only one tutor that's been there longer than I have. I'm not sure if we have a replacement for M yet, but we have four managers that know the ropes pretty well. Now there's only one person I would like to see go. Once that happens, work will no longer be as annoying as it once was.
