Evite hacked

I'm posting this here more for me than anyone else. This morning I woke up to an email, from my friend T, that said the movie night we had been planning for a few weeks had been called off due to my "overbooking myself." At first I thought it was just my friends looking out for me (which I love them for) and we totally had a conversation about this yesterday. But, when I went to the site, I found that my reply had been changed from a yes to a no with the comment "Sorry, not going to be able to make it, dude. Too much stuff going on this week, and not enough cash to cover it all."

I was floored. I didn't write this. These were not my words. This is not how I would respond.

I immediately fired off a text to T saying I think my Evite had been hacked and went to work trying to figure out *when* my reply was changed. Evite is wonderful in that it posts how long ago people updated their responses to things. A quick bit of math (Yay math.) and I found that the comment and reply were posted a little after 6:00pm. At that time yesterday, I was up in The City, with my friends, without any sort of way to change my status. (Yes, I just got a new phone, but it's not a smart phone. I'm sure I could figure out a way to do it, but why would I do that *without* telling my friends WHO ARE RIGHT NEXT TO ME?) I heard back from my friend and we established that I was totally up for doing things tonight and was, in no way overextending myself. I posted a little status update to Facebook and got a response from a very computer savvy friend of mine talking about the security holes in the links that Evite sends out.

So, as of now, I have reconfirmed that I will be attending tonight. I'm not going to even try and speculate on who could've done this. Unfounded theories just lead to eventually suspecting everyone and breeds paranoia and mistrust. All of which I don't want to deal with.... ever.
