Over the past few days I've been zipping through my Netflix list. I actually cherry picked some stuff that's been sitting on my queue for a while.
The Lost Boys: The Tribe: Um, no. This was a cheap knock-off sequel to a movie I love. Even Cory Feldman's reprised role fell short.
Run, Fat Boy, Run: OMG, I love Simon Pegg. This movie wasn't as off the wall as his other movies, but it was still spot on funny.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan: I'll admit, I was expecting a really dumbed-down comedy, but I actually found it enjoyable.
Tortured: Yes, again with the graphic torture scenes. The ending fell a little short and the timeline was a bit hard to follow, but it was still worth it for the torture.
Spaced Invaders: I love this movie. Yes, a movie about a group of Martians mistakingly invading Earth on Halloween after overhearing a transmission of Orson Welles's "War of the Worlds" is stupid, but that's the whole point. It's stupid and hilarious at the same time.
Phase IV (1974): I first saw this movie, on cable, back in '93 and it intrigued me. It tells the story of two scientists studying highly intelligent ants in the Arizona desert that seem to be determined to conquer humanity. It's more cerebral than anything else and I absolutely love it. The cinematography is spectacular, especially when it comes to the ants. Plus it stars Lynne Frederick who, at 20, was frelling *HOT.*
