Sweet, Sweet Savior

Sweet, Sweet Savior
(a poem by Confideo)

It must have been heart-breaking to smell Your own blood
That flowed like a flood from the crown of thorns above
You knew that there was no other way around it
To the plan of salvation, You had to submit

Your purpose was to seek and save those who were lost
The very same people who nailed You to the cross
All their lives they were like sheep without a shepherd
Awaiting the arrival of the Living Word

As You claim to be the Way, the Truth and the Life
A light of hope officially ended the strife
The enemy who aimed to steal, kill and destroy
Was losing his grip on those he played like a toy

But justice demanded that the ransom be paid
The law required that there would be a righteous trade
You chose to take the place of those who deserved death
And to show them God's love till Your very last breath

Sweet, sweet Savior, may we forever be like You
Willing to offer our lives to One who foreknew
May our every step be caused by love for others
As we witness Your glorious Kingdom grow further
