I brought along my famous stolen-from-Canadian Living
banana bread (the entry containing that recipe is, by far, the most frequently-hit link on my blog) which is always popular. It's easy as can be, and if you don't have overripe bananas to use, you can freeze a couple overnight, thaw them out in the fridge during the day, and make the bread that evening.
The version that happened this time was quite pale, which I attribute to the bananas being frozen rather than overripe. (It was still moist, though, which seems to be the result of the freezing and thawing.)
I mentioned on Saturday that my dad (cook of record in the parental home) was making a nice curry-chicken dish. Turns out he got the recipe from the very same cookbook as I got the banana bread from, which means I also have the recipe, which has implications for mealtimes later on. It was mighty good.
And I ended up with two bananas left over, so once I run out and get a few more eggs I'll make a banana loaf for myself.
