[fanfiction] A Woman True and Fair - Chapter 23

Not quite as long in coming this time.
This chapter continues directly from the last, so the beginning won't make much sense unless you've read the end of 22.

Title: A Woman True and Fair
Characters this chapter: Michael, Calcifer, Howl, Sophie, Hunch
Rating: PG-13

YAY NEW CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! joseishijin November 1 2006, 16:32:17 UTC
AWESOME. When I saw on your journal that you planned on updating, I had to start trawling the HMC sites. *grin*

There is one part, hon, where Niccolo and Howell are in Mrs. Pentstemmon's house, walking up the stairs, and at the end of one paragraph, there is an open sentence:

Especially in a house where some

The humor you wove into this sad chapter was wonderful. It made me smile even though I was sad for poor Howell. I like the nod to the movie with Hunch's transformation! *harts*

Also, your dialogue is as snappy as ever:

Don't forget you're a despicable coward," Calcifer reminded him helpfully.
Howell stopped at the door and collapsed against it, one hand on the knob. "Damn you, Calcifer."
"Too late," the fire demon said.
"Why did you have to remind me?"

and

"Calcifer, have a heart," Michael chided, gently.
"I do!" Calcifer protested.

Great chapter!!! It flowed very well.

Haha. You're so proactive. I was planning on posting a notice in my LJ today that it was up (too tired last night). I didn't realise till last month how many people have stopped watching the comms and ff.net. XD

Thanks. Someone at ff.net pointed that out, too. I remember what I was going to write, and apparently moved on, thinking I had indeed written it. XD I blame the cat for demanding to be played with WHILE I was writing. He's very jealous of the computer and tears apart my bookcase if I'm on it for longer than 3 minutes without paying attention to him.

And I actually fixed it right before I read your comment. ^^ *thumbs-up*

The humor you wove into this sad chapter was wonderful.Blah, reading it over, it seems so random. But hopefully it works all ( ... )

*munches on cookies*

I liked the random humor. I am all about sadness and fear and angst, but without a little levity, it isn't something you want to read. It's not as "real" if you know what I mean. Do I know what I mean? Hmmm.

Gotta love the kitties demanding the love when you are trying to write on the computer. When I am reading something, no one bugs me, but the minute they hear typing, they are all over me like white on rice...

*pours you some aqua de horchata to go with*

Well, that's true. I think I know what you mean. ^^

Mildly comforting to know my cat isn't the only demon when it comes to that. XD He'll be fine all night till I sit down in front of the computer, and then...

"But...Sophie!" Howell cried in despair. He whirled around dramatically and collapsed back against the door, slowly sliding down it until he was sitting on the stone floor.

So much love.

*laugh* Thanks.
Believe it or not, I actually had to cut some of Howl's hystrionics from this chapter in revision.

I just want to let you know that I enjoy reading "A Woman True and Fair" very much. Thank you and good luck with your midterms and paper :)

"... that--that--"

"Witch?" Calcifer offered."
I can't stop giggling when reading this :)
And of course the quotes that other posters mentioned, too. Nice work.

That's great; thanks. ^^

That part makes me grin, so I'm glad someone else got a kick out of it, too.

may I ask-- I came in late and missed the beginning of this story. As you said in the beginning, I'll have no idea what's going on unless I'd read the previous chapter, so... I'd like to do so. ^-^ To read the previous 22 chapters, I mean. Could you point me in the direction of the beginning, please?
Wonderful!

Chapter 22 is only two entries before this one in the community, but the easiest place to find them all together is my ff.net account here. ^^

Yay! Thank you for the nice comment. ^^
Someone on ff.net said the Italian should be different, but I trust your word.
I couldn't give this story up if I wanted to. It just might be slow-going for a while. =)
*hugs*
