Name: Lauren, Lao Ren, or just kleonix works too.
Location: Pennsylvania, USA.
Sex: Womanly.
How you descovered Howl: I was hangin' out in the resource room at school thinking about Dianna Wynne Jones. How cool she was. How she always wrote awesome books, one of which, The Tough Guide to Fantasyland, I had just finished reading, and several more of which I had at home and had read far too much. Then I thought, "Oh, yeah, Howl's Moving Castle, she wrote that too. I better see if I can get it." So I inter-library loaned it about a week or two ago and I'm on my third reading right now. I went stark raving mad for it... it's just such a subtle novel, with so much depth to it despite its seeming simplicity. I could talk about it for days on end. I pretty much have, really...
Favourite line: "Crowds of young men swaggered beerily to and fro, [...] calling loud remarks and accosting girls. The girls strolled in fine pairs, ready to be accosted." XD
Other fandoms you are part of: ... uh? I like a lot of stuff, but I tend to hate fandoms, especially since the Harry Potter stuff went down. But I like tons of stuff, especially books, anime, and RPG's. If you mention a fandom to me, I will probably at the very least know OF it.
Favourite food: Beef stroganoff.
If you were an animal you would be: I have no idea. Probably either a cat of some sort or a bear. I'll go with a bear, bears are cool. Mischevious and gruff and clumsy, but nice. That's about as much like me as anything.
Misc. other things: I was redirected to this community by whitedeath, whom I have to thank, because I mentioned that I was using Howl's Moving Castle as a focal point for my quarterly lit paper. Specifically, I plan to explore Jones' use of the poem "Song" and how both the book and the poem explore the theme of human deception and the quest for virtue in oneself and others. ^_^ Iffen it turns out to be good, I'd be glad to share! I'm also kind of mad for analyzing literature and author styles and stuff like that, so I will probably break out my inner nerd at least once on here. Je regrette.
Happy to meetcha! ^_^
