It depends how stubborn you are. Knowing when to bend is a type of strength, too.

It isn't something one typically associates with being strong-willed, however. Determination is achieving one's goals at all costs, and so many people give more emphasis to the "at all costs" part. Achieving one's goals in the most painless and efficient manner does not really enter their minds, and knowing one's limitations is a necessary part of that.

You have a point there. It depends on the goal, too, though... If someone wants to take something without considering the consequences, then being strong-willed and determined, then yeah, they would be unyielding and maybe have the strength to forcibly meet their goals. People who rely on sheer force without considering the possible repercussions of their actions rarely remain "strong", though...
