50 (video) - cats

[ The picture just shows a bunch of smallish, hollowed-out, metal balls - things the size of marbles, really - and a pair of delicate little hands handling them and filling them with some sort of thing. Gunpowder, blasting jelly, whatever the hell equivalent Cephiro would have - it's probably obvious what it is. I mean, what else would you be ( Read more... )

You shouldn’t be doing something like that around a cat… it could be dangerous.

[Your post is very interesting this morning, Clef… ]

What would someone from Cephiro want with that kind of explosive?

The cat wasn't there when I started.

Good question, Commander.

If you were a mage, what would you do with explosives?

If I were a mage I might not need explosives…

[Insert cheeky smile here

Followed by a friendly warning. ]

And if I decided that I did, I would not be manufacturing them around others. Even the most stable explosive ingredient can be dangerous at a time like this…

I figured it was a better idea to have many small explosives than one larger canister of powder, as was previously the case. It still isn't ideal, but hopefully I will dispatch these and not need to make another batch.

I wonder why a mage would have any need to explosives at all. Couldn’t you just cast a spell of some kind to accomplish whatever your goal might be?

Are you any good at mathematics, Commander Vision?

I have some knowledge of the subject…

[Odd question really, hmm..
But, of course Eagle would never have passed the Academy if he didn’t know mathematics! ]

Yet sometimes you surely encounter problems so complex that you need to draw a picture or something in order to solve them, correct?

Not a picture… maybe writing the equation out though…

Working the problem out on a screen instead of in your head.

[Note - screen used instead of ‘paper’. ]

It seems I've chosen a poor analogy, then.

Maybe.

[Smiles at the mental image he has of Clef drawing some kind of image with explosives…

More seriously, just hoping Clef won’t end up blowing himself up. ]

Maybe instead of analogies you could just say what the purpose is?

Unless it’s a secret?

[ Don't worry, Clef is a professional! ]

If I told you that I was doing some secret thing involving explosives, I'm sure you'd become very suspicious.

As I am already very suspicious, I see no reason to hide that fact… if that is indeed what you are doing.

Oh.

In that case, yes, it is a secret.
