-I'm sorry to hear that. It seems that most painters today are basing their work on photographs.

There are so many images in the world. An artist doesn't really need to create anymore.

-Do you ever long to paint a tree or something that's rooted in the earth?

It depends what you think the earth is. Nature is shrinking every day -- it is being more and more hemmed in, even in Africa -- and the number of images is growing, so it makes more sense to look at images.
