Dr. Edward R. Downel Found Dead
By JAMES T. THURSTON, Field Writer
Dr. Edward R. Downel, author of such controversial works as "The Way The World Ends", "The Secret Guide to History" and more recently "The Nature of Glass," was found dead in his Tangiers flat by a local constable after neighbors called to complain about the growing stench.
Dr. Downel had been dead at least two days. His body was entirely exsanguinated and was mutilated in ways not fit for reproduction in a public forum. The apartment showed no signs of struggle and none of the neighbors could remember hearing any commotation at all. Although one piece of jewelry -- a small, glass ring in the shape of a human skull -- was said missing by friends, robbery is not suspected.
We shall continue to report on this story as more details are made available.
