last night, life was on fire, as mitchell may puts it. went to the pirate party with lee-lee-nore and insanity_theory. dressing up was SO much fun.. i wore my usual pirate dress-ups [burghundy pants tucked into big black boots with a white shirt and one of lucidsavant's vests].. i also tied a black rag round my neck because they seemed to have a lot of those in pirates of the carribbean, and lucidsavant shoved one of her dolls heads on a stick so i carried that too. i also wore her black belt thing with rope and beads on it and stuff on my head to look like oogy pirate dreadlocks. thenn when i met lee-lee-nore she'd bought me a sword [which was unfortunately a samurai one - she hadn't realised - but she gave it to me for free because of it. hehe] and a pirate hat [which i later gave to trashplanet because we ran into her in fl street station as they were locking up - random].

so yes um.. then we went to richmond and had dinner at crust [pizza bar - i had a job interview there last year and i'm really glad i didn't get the job - it looks painful]. we had this awesome pumpkin base pizza with egg, potato, capsicum, tomatoes, bay leaves and stuff on them. YUM. i definitely recommend going there.. it's on church street near east richmond station.

anyway, then insanity_theory turned up, which was great [yay !] and we walked back to the corner and went in. we missed the first stand-up act, but we saw this AWESOME band called man bites dog.. their songs were SO funny. the first one was called "leperous scabs" [which is always a good start] and then their next was called "spelling bee girl" awwwwww. i definitely have to get their cd. then ummm i can't remember who was next, actually. we went up the front near the stage where all the pirate-y dressed people were, and k and st were there ! cos k is friends with andrew mclelland and the other guy who the fundraiser was for [lawrence] who also wants to go to edinburgh. charlie pickering was hilarious. so was eddie perfect.. imagine a guy who sounds like he belongs in a boy band/cabaret show singing comedy... wow !! i really really have to get his cd. also greg fleet was there but he wasn't on good form. i finally saw dave callan [who is k's friend too and looks like hagrid] and um um the fucksticks, who are very amusing but i don't know how funny they would be not-live. dave callan and st and their friend duff did a pirate skit which was very funny too. and then.. and then and then.. SFORZANDO WERE ON !!! YESSSSSS !!! I'VE BEEN DYING TO SEE THEM FOREVER AND EVERRRRRR ! they did a sing-along version of 'what shall we do with the drunken sailor' and also um some other song about going to south australia which i don't remember, along with the pirate shanty choir which included k and a couple of people that i met at estelle's karaoke birthday party but i couldn't remember who they were. and then they did their other stuff and it was SO good, even though i don't like punk that much. the energy was just amazing ! lee-lee-nore and i were jumping around and dancing and laughing and it was SO good. i can't even explain it. and there were these cute goth kids at the front boogie-ing and the little goth guy [who looked about 16] yelled for an encore so much that they did one, and then invited him up to sing their encore song with them. teehee. the guy who plays the fiddle is SO GOOD, oh my god. electric fiddle.. please take me now. i bought a sforzando cd too, but they're not nearly as good recorded as live. the energy isn't captured at all, and there isn't the eye candy [the guitarist is really hot in an 'i'm in a band and wear lots of black and have black hair and very pale skin and my guitar has a sticker that says fuck racism on it' way]. and yes. awww. yay !

lyrics:

"but when it comes to mary tin, i said "i'm not giving in", she's got a BA in deconstructing. i dig her sexy face, her analysis is ace, i think it's love for mary tin."

argh and there's this other awesome song that isn't on their cd and i can remember the funny bit but not the bit just before it that puts it in context.. anyway, it goes "i've got beauty in my eye and a cutlass in my neck" aw it was SO good live. i love piratey songs YES !!

ok i'd better get dressed now because i have to go really soon. dandenong & frankston savers here i come !
