ugh!! TFC crap
i've recently had the misfortune of getting stuck watching TFC-shows (the news showes i don't mind but everything else is just...ugh!) and one thing just irked me ..hence the gripe.
It's a given that education is on a downward slope back home and it annoys me that pinoy pop culture holds more primacy than anything else. I was watching some news show and they featured actor robin padilla, who apparently got some award for his work on educating underprivileged muslim children. A little heart-warmer right there. Said award was given by the government of Turkey... and as a description, Turkey is...and i quote "ang bayan ni Yilmaz Bektas." Nope it's not formerly the seat of the Holy Roman empire (tama diba? :D), it's not a wonderful mediterranean (well almost european) country with lots of history, no references whatsoever as to the geographic and historical significance of the country. As far as everybody's concerned, Turkey is the homeland of Yilmasz Bektas.
That guy better do something significantly world-changing. otherwise, it would be so sad when ur typical masang-pinoy would only have this information on Turkey
