Summary:  Vince and Howard spend some quality time on the bouncy castle

Vince and… Umber?  Taupe?... his girl watched Howard and Marie saying good night.  Vince could spot right away that they had been messing around.  Howard looked more rumpled than usual and Marie’s lipstick was nearly gone.  He’d have to get closer, but Vince was certain there would be lipstick smudges on Howard’s face.  Even from a distance, he could tell Howard’s lips were slightly red and swollen.  Vince’s date was certain Marie and Howard hadn’t shagged, but refused to explain why she was so sure.  She’d gotten a text from Marie, and while she swore it didn’t say anything specific about Howard, she was confident that Howard and Marie had not made any kind a big leap.  Vince felt mean, but he was happy Howard was still a virgin.

His girl didn’t need any hints to hit the road, as soon as Marie left, she bid Vince adieu.  Cleverly, Vince had her enter her own information into his phone.  Later he could just look for the unfamiliar name and avoid a lot of awkwardness.

After… Fuschia?... Vince’s date left, Vince found Howard lying on the bouncy castle.  Vince carefully took off his boots before joining Howard.  It was going to be hard enough to get his deposit back without risking a hole in the fabric.  The castle was covered in alcopops and glitter.

“Howard, you have to admit the party was a good idea,” Vince teased as he joined his friend.  Howard gave him a warm smile and didn’t flinch when Vince snuggled up next to him.  “I know there were a few parts that were a bit offish…”

“Like when Lester was beheaded and you nearly followed?”

“That’s one example,” Vince concurred.  “Don’t forget when you almost had to kiss the guy who wrote ‘Lady in Red’.  That was pretty funny.”

“Why are you bringing that up, sir?” Howard snapped.  “Some events do not need to be revisited, thank you.”

Vince had forgotten the game of spin the bottle and Naboo’s prank were what lead up to Howard’s accidental confession.

“Like I said before, being a virgin s’no big deal…”

“On the contrary,” Howard argued.  “Making a choice to remain abstinent is a very big deal.  While you and Sienna were engaging in God knows what kind of exchange of bodily fluids, Marie and I were having a meeting of the mind and soul and listening to one of the great jazz artists of all time…”

“Who is Sienna?” Vince asked, wondering who Howard thought Vince was shagging.

“Your clone?  The girl you’ve been in your bedroom with for hours?” Howard prompted, looking sincerely annoyed.

“Sienna, genius!  Cheers, Howard.  I have been trying to remember her name all night.  I knew it was a color…”  Vince trailed off as he saw the disapproval in Howard’s face.   “Sienna and I weren’t exchanging nothing but make up tips.  She taught me a great tip for the perfect cat’s eye.  She is well cool.  We are probably going to get married.”

Vince added the last bit because Howard was still glaring.  Vince didn’t really understand Howard’s feelings about sex and love.  Howard wasn’t interested in hanging out with someone for fun.  He wanted his partner to be an intellectual so they could do intellectual things together.

“I’m glad to hear you exhibited some self-control this evening.”

Vince rolled his eyes.  “Look who’s talking, Mr. Gayist.  You didn’t get off with Marie ‘cause she didn’t hand you a manual on what to do.”

He expected Howard to puff out his chest and protest.  What he got was red-faced anger.

“Listen here, you little twit,” Howard growled, grabbing Vince by his tunic.  “What Marie and I have is special and I won’t have you sullying it with your disgusting nonsense.  I’m glad I’ve waited for the right woman, and now I am waiting for the right time.”  Howard let go of Vince’s top, giving him a little push backwards in the process, “Yes, sir, Howard Moon is not driven solely by his hormones.  When I make love to Marie, it will be perfect.”

“Sorry, Howard,” Vince mumbled, staring at his feet and feeling chastened.  “But… doesn’t it bother you being a virgin?  Knowing everyone but you is doing it and you’re the only one who don’t know how it feels?  I couldn’t wait to stop being a virgin.  I’d have gotten off with anyone.”

Howard frowned, but put an arm around Vince and pulled him close.

“There may have been times when I felt like that…”

Vince didn’t point out that Howard had pretty obviously felt that way a few hours ago when he was pouting on the roof.

“…But, I’m much more mature than you,” Howard finished.  “I know when something is worth waiting for.”

Vince could smell perfume on Howard’s rollneck, and (as he expected) there were traces of lipstick on his lips, cheek and jaw line.  He rested his head on Howard’s broad chest and enjoyed the feeling of being small and protected.  If Howard got married, Vince wouldn’t be allowed to share his bed any more.  It was disturbing thought.

When Vince finally broke from his thoughts and glanced up at Howard, he saw such love and tenderness in Howard’s eyes, it felt natural to give him a quick kiss on the lips.  It was just a brush of their lips, nothing like the intense kiss on the roof.

Vince went in for a second kiss, the memory of the roof times flooding his body with visceral memories.  Howard was the first person Vince hadn’t found mildly disappointing.  He hated to think he would never be allowed to have it off with Howard, not even once.

Vince gently pulled Howard down until they were both lying on the bouncy castle as they snogged.  Howard was much more animated for their second kiss, exploring Vince’s body as well as his mouth.  Howard ran his hands along Vince’s hip and back, even caressing his chest as though he expected to find a pair of tits there.  Vince dared a squeeze of Howard’s arse (Howard was not wrong about men checking out his hot pumpkin ass) and was not pushed away.  Vince closed his eyes and took a leap.

“We could do it.  Right now, you and me. You know, for practice n’all, before you settle down” Vince whispered, even though they were completely alone.  The party guests were gone and Naboo and Bollo were lying face down in the sitting room.  “No one would have to know.”

It didn’t go over as well as Vince hoped.
