I'm actually in a weird in-between state right now.

I had two ME fic projects in progress:

Idea #1: An ME/Jane Austen AU. I know right? But I'd written a little bit and it made me excited about the possibilities. However, I quickly got daunted on how much research was involved, and then I got distracted by...

Idea #2: A shiny prompt on tumblr about Shepard waking up post-ME3 with memory loss also caught my eye and just to get some of the ideas down, I started writing for that too. Then, in the middle of that, I got inspired to write the fic for sinvraal that I just posted to the ME comm. That one popped into my head almost fully formed. But now that it's over, I have this weird feeling of wanting to write again but not being sure what to work on ( ... )

Hehe, sorry for the distraction. At least it was a one-shot distraction?

The memory-loss fic sounds interesting, but it definitely sounds like you need to decide on what the point you're trying to make is, about Shepard or her situation, before jumping in. It would help it keep from wandering too much.

I was happy for that distraction! That fic just really wrote itself; it was one of those rare (for me anyway) experiences where the words keep coming and you know exactly what needs to happen next.

Yeah, I think you're right about the memory loss fic. I don't really have a point to it yet. Maybe I need to let it percolate a bit more. But it feels unproductive to not keep working on it... or at least something writing related.

Blargh.

January has apparently decided it's going to be hell-month for me. A two-week head cold had cleared up just in time for three days of gastro something or other!

Needless to say it's putting a crimp in my writing. I managed to squeeze out another Legion chapter even though it's like running my writing brain through a cheese grater and picking up the flakes with tweezers. Banging the dents out of the Rannoch section of the fic and hoping it makes a certain amount of sense without having to go into hardcore exposition mode.

Bleah. Imma go hug my Gatorade bottle.

Sorry you've been feeling so rotten! I guess the flu is really going around. It's been all over the news down here.

I'm impressed that you managed to write while sick. When I'm feeling rotten, anything productive is the last thing on my mind.

It's been a really weird bout. I haven't had any serious fever, just a combination of sore throat, stuffy nose, headache, cough etc etc that seemed to mutate depending on the say. Even with this gastro thing, I don't have a fever, I'm just, ah, visiting the loo a lot. I feel crummy, yeah, but it's not flattening me as bad as a full-on flu would. (That said, I'm starting to really feel the fact that I'm not getting enough food.)

Anyway, I managed enough coherent time in there to get work done, though it was scattered. I was convinced my last chapter was sort of crummy, but my beta came back saying she loved it, so maybe being high as a kite on Buckley's is the secret.
