last night was the pretty girls make graves/death cab for cutie show in nashville, and i almost didn't even make it there.
adrienne picks me up to take me to wal-mart to get some film for my camera. i couldn't find any, so i bought a disposible camera. adrienne's parents called while we were there in the photo department and they're screaming at her and she's screaming at them (in the photo department). it was a just a smidge embarrassing. josh calls adrienne to tell her that he can't go cause he got called in to work, but he has his friend crystal take us. so everything's fine. adrienne's parents tell her that she has to bring her car home. we were gonna meet josh and crystal at the mall cause she didn't know where adrienne lived. so me and adrienne get back to her house and she and her parents duke it out. lots of yelling. but finally josh and crystal shows up. by the way, me and adrienne have never met crystal. so we didn't know if she was crazy or what. but it turns out that she's really cool, but she's leaving to go back to soth carolina on sunday. so we drive josh back to the mall, and we head out to nashville. i was bummed that josh couldn't go. we got to nashvile in about and hour and a half. and it was raining pretty bad, to the point where you couldn't see in front of you. but we made it there ok. my directions kinda sucked (thanks yahoo maps). we went to a gas station and got directions that we just as sucky. we were looking for shirley street, but there was no sign. but i just so happened to remember one street name from my original directions and we made it to the show. we didn't stand outside for too long. rocket town is a strange place: they frisk you, use a metal detector on you, search you bags, you have to check in yr coats. poor crystal had to check in her cigarettes. yeah, there's no smoking or outside drinks allowed. but it was a very pristine club, and they had air conditioning!
so we go the merch table so i can get a little something for my friends who couldn't go. as were leaving the merch table, i noticed a very tall man with black hair and glasses. it was derek fudesco, bassist of pretty girls make graves and the murder city devils. i told adrienne who he was, and she asked me if i was sure that was him. i was sure alright. we waited for him to finish talking on his cell phone before we talked to him. he took a picture with us. how great! he said that hardly anyone knew who they were. that was insane to me. i was so happy to have met him. so pretty girls make graves play not long afterward, and me and adrienne went crazy. we sang, screamed and danced our little behinds off. andrea dedicated a song to us after we screamed "andrea we love you!" she would look in our direction and smile cause we (including a really cool guy in front of us who was dancing) were the only one showing any kind of love for them. and they played "speakers push the air" and i screamed the words so loudly and andrea pointed to us. i wish they had played longer, cause they we great.
death cab for cutie plays, and most of the kids are there to see them. fortunate for me, i love both bands. but the kids surrounding me were so blah. i danced and sang some more and didn't care what anyone around me thought. death cab was good, but pretty girls make graves were so much better. and ben gibbard's guitars kept fucking up. they played 2 songs in the encore. but i saw andrea behind the stage during the encore, and all i cared about was meeting her.
so back to the merch table. dereck fudesco was the merch guy and i buy a copy of good health on vinyl. i asked him to sign it for me and he does. then me and adrienne walked around looking for andrea. i saw jason clark (gutarist for pretty girls make graves and kill sadie) and me and adrienne approach i and he takes a pic with us and signs my record. adrienne asks if he can get andrea to come out to talk to us. so she comes out and is the coolest and most beautiful woman i've ever seen in my life. i've seen so many pics of her, but she's 100 times more beautiful in person. she took 2 pics with us and she wirtes a little something on my record for me. she also signed josh's ticket stub for him and writes an message for him on there. and we talked to her for a few minutes. i felt like such a dummy cause i din't know what to say to them. i felt suprisingly comfortable around them, and they're huge to me.
we go to the cafe to get some food. we ordered a pizza and 3 drinks. we left to go outside to smoke, and when we tried to come back in with our drinks the security guard told us that we couldn't bring our drinks back in. oh well. so we ate our pizza outside and left. as we were driving away, we saw andrea outside and crystal honked the horn at her. and that's it. we got back to jackson in one piece, then we went by josh's apartment to give him his gifts and he was pretty happy about. then we went to mc donalds and they dropped me off at my house.
