Lots of progress in the downstairs over the weekend! We realized we had to get some rooms worthy of being proud of before we made the bedrooms entirely unlivable, or else we'd have panic attacks. It was bad enough when I chickened out and had to go buy another gallon of paint in a lighter shade. Time to sell medium-gray paint on Craigslist. Nothing like paint to cause nervous breakdowns. We almost backed off of the dark green, but it really looks fantastic so I'm glad we went with it.

Painting is not particularly hard, or particularly easy. I'm definitely better at it now than I was before the weekend. We're not quite done with the final touching up - I'm not home during daylight hours and while I'm at work they're attacking the heavier duty stuff. It was absolutely amazing to see the walls changing color, and really feeling like the place was ours, never ever to return to the land of pink and flowers. The color-transition at the arch even looks good. The purple in the dining room was really really bright when it was wet, but by the time we came back to it, it was lovely dark eggplanty-black purple (much like the curtains - they'll look great!) I'm very enthusiastic about the paint job.

Painting window trim involved taking down the mini-blinds, and painting the ceilings involved removing ceiling fan blades... and washing the lamp glass from beige to ivory, and flipping the fan blades from rattan to oakey. It looks like a whole new fixture.
