This weekend, somehow D and I kept having fancy drinks, yet never left the house for them. We went out to see
a movie on Friday night, and talked going to
the martini bar down the street after, but by the time the movie was out, I was ready to go home... coincidentally (or not??) this is the second time of two that I've left that theater with a headache - I'm hoping it's just coincidence, or a regular late Friday night after a long week kind of thing, not something to do with
the theater, which is the one with all the arty movies.
Anyway, Saturday night was a delicious seared tuna dinner after a bike ride that took us to the fish market, and the accompanying wine got turned into fruity fancy drinks - basically kir (white wine with creme de cassis) with little balls of watermelon, which tasted abolutely fabulous after they'd been soaking for a while.
Tonight we had dessert martinis with a video - already knew that the lemondrop is very very tasty, but we have a recipe book that includes the "lemon meringue martini", basically a lemon drop with an egg white foam, and it was delicious.
Wedding accessories: wine glasses, melon baller, cocktail shaker, martini recipe book. We skipped the martini glasses in favor of straight sides to make the foam look thicker. But on the other hand, it could be argued that that much sugar couldn't possibly be a real martini anyway, so it doesn't matter what shape glass we use, right?
