See Me on the Internet

Dec 30, 2011 11:26

Next Saturday (Jan 7) I'll be playing at Boston Celtic Music Festival (BCMFest), which is a bunch of local Irish/Scottish/etc musicians performing in 3 different venues on the same block down in Cambridge.

I'm actually playing twice during the day, once at the church venue (parlor stage) with Corvus, and once with my good friend and neighbor Adrienne (we're not "a band" which means we get to pick all our favorite tunes and just play them) along with our friend Terry (who plays guitar and kicks me when I speed up). That happens to be the one in the Club Passim venue. Passim is a folk music club, and over the last year or so they've piloted a program where they web broadcast all their shows - they don't keep an archive, but every performance is live-streamed via the Concert Window website.

So, at 1:30 pm (Eastern, duh) you can go to http://concertwindow.com/passim and watch us play. It used to be free, while they were still working the kinks out of the process; now you have to give them $3, but $2 of that money does actually make its
way to the venue and the BCMFest guys, and that's nothing compared to the $15 festival ticket, to say nothing of the airplane. I can't give you a link to "our show" - the previous link is for whatever's currently going on at Passim, but you can see on the schedule that it will be BCM all day on Saturday. I think that means you can log in earlier in the day and watch shows from 10:30 till 4:30, all the BCMFest performers on that stage under the same $3, but the flow of information has been a bit less than fluid, so
don't quote me on that. But if you're into this stuff, that would be a lovely "radio station" as you go about the day, so check that out.

As a side note: you will get to see Adrienne play her hurdy-gurdy.  Maybe this is enticing.  If that scares you, though, consider - it's only 1.5 of 9 tune sets, the rest is fiddle, okay?

Anyway, we're 1:30-2:15; I hope the web stuff makes tons of sense and you're able to see our concert.
