Hornpipe #13: Joe Cooley's

Apr 06, 2010 00:20

edit - sound problems are fixed now.

I recorded this yesterday, and thought I was all done, but didn't have time to pull the files off the camera... then I went back and listened to it.  And recorded a new set this evening.

Last weekend was a vastly entertaining weekend, but the list of things to accomplish didn't get a whole heck of a lot shorter.  Herr Husband was at Anime Boston selling his comics, and had a fantastic weekend, but he was only home between approx midnight and 9am.  Added to the chaos were friends from out of state (yes, 5 of them!) who were also selling at the convention, and staying with us.  Also gone all day, but there was still basic houseguest-support to be done.  (As well as a fantastic Scottish dance party Saturday night... still working on that, I may have a media-upload before too long.)  They all came home when the con ended on Sunday afternoon and had burgers in the back yard.  This is relevant because they got home at 5:35, and my last/best recording was at about 5:20, when I knew they'd be arriving any time.  I knew it was pretty decent, note-wise.  When I listened to it today, I discovered that I was rushing the bejeezus out of it.  Just the B part, really.  But terribly so.  So much that it's kind of hilarious.  A mix of "are these the notes I want? better just play them faster" and "holy crap I've got to get this done before 7 hungry cartoonists show up".

No, that is not what I'm posting.  Here's the one I recorded today (on my way out the door to dancing - life does not stop these days!!)

Paddy O'Brien wrote this tune, and Joe Cooley adopted it.  I guess Cooley's version won, because his is the name that's attached to it now.
