Death does not become her

This weekend brought with it news of not one, but two deaths of elderly relatives.  Neither a surprise....both sad (one much moreso than the other, if I'm being completely candid).  And, in both cases, death brought an end to pain and suffering.  So, one might say it was a blessing.  "He's gone to a better place" at least one well-meaning person will say to my aunt at the funeral tomorrow, I'm sure.

For me, it leaves me with an increasingly clear understanding that my rather small extended family is, for the most part, old.  And let's face it, old people die.  (What? You were hoping for poetry here?)

It is true though, that we should never be sad for those who pass away....we should be sad for those they leave behind.
