DC - A Little Experiment?

"Kudo."

Conan about jumped out of his skin at the quiet, unexpected exhalation of his name right beside his ear. What the- Shaken down to his very core, Conan twisted his head around and stared utterly dumbstruck at the diminutive little girl standing beside him. She hadn't been there before, but it wasn't as if she didn't have the ability to sneak up on him if she wanted to. "Ha...Haibara, have you lost your mind?"

She merely blinked at him and then took a short step back. It wasn't anywhere near being far enough away to settle his nerves, but in regards to her, he'd take whatever he could get. Blowing out a calming breath, that only worked in so much as keeping the skin crawling at bay, Conan glanced around warily. The residential street was empty. Not a surprising turn of events, the area was usually quiet except when the professor was blowing something else up - which he didn't seem to be doing at the moment, thankfully. Conan had been heading towards Agasa's house - something about a new invention, which hopefully wouldn't blow up either -, where he would have no doubt run into the girl who was still standing there watching him sternly. What the heck? "Are you crazy? What if somebody heard you? You could have just signed both our death warrants," he hissed at her. And geez, talk about a complete reversal of roles. This wasn't like her at all. What was-

"I need to ask a favor of you," she said evenly, her tone giving nothing away even as her face remained locked in the same solemn expression she'd been giving him the entire time.

"What?!" Conan stared back at her for a few seconds, utterly flabbergasted, before finally catching himself. Shaking his head in rising annoyance, Conan closed his eyes briefly and reached up to squeeze the bridge of his nose. If he ever wanted to wish somebody to the pits of hell, all he had to do was introduce them to Haibara. Easiest way to run off even the most stalwart of souls. "Couldn't this have waited?"

"No," she replied flatly as she moved forward, invading his personal space again with an ease that set him on edge without fail. "I do not want Agasa to get involved."

"Why?" He countered, his eyes narrowing in suspicion as he took a step back away from her. "What exactly is this favor? You don't want me to do something illegal, do you? You know I don't-"

"Just shut up and stay still," she huffed irritably as she pushed him back against the side wall. "This won't take long."

"What won't?" Conan shot back, his suspicions mounting even further and then turning into outright alarm as she reached up and took his glasses off. "Hey! What are you-"

Any further outbursts were immediately silenced as Haibara leaned forward and pressed her lips against his. Conan just stood there, frozen, completely and utterly shocked. The synapses in his brain were misfiring, that was the only explanation for what was happening. Haibara Ai- No, Miyano Shiho... SHERRY could not possibly be doing what they were telling him she was doing. She was not kissing him. She wasn't! Except she was...

It wasn't a bad kiss, not that he was really doing anything but just standing there - as if he could do anything what with his brain lying to him about what was really going on. Her lips were soft, and she was warm, and it was... kinda nice... And what the ever living hell was going on here?!

After too long of a time - or too short depending on which part of his brain he was listening too -, she drew back and straightened up. Conan just stood there, staring at her, his brain still incapable of working properly - assuming it could ever work properly again after that. She tipped her head to the side, licked her lips and nodded to herself as if she had confirmed something or other.

"It appears as if my original hypothesis was correct, after all," she stated thoughtfully, "It's not the same."

"Eh?" Why did he have this sudden, sinking feeling that he had just become yet another one of her experiments - not that he wasn't one already. Stupid poison.

"Nothing you need to worry about," she said vaguely as she turned and headed towards the professor's house, her home. He did not immediately follow after, which earned him a sharp sounding: "Are you coming or not?"

"Uh... sure," Conan muttered dumbly before hurrying along after her. He could... think about that... kis- thing later. His brain sure wasn't up to it right now. It just kept arguing with itself over whether that had just really happened or not. And maybe it hadn't. Maybe he'd just dreamed the entire thing up. Stress could do that to you, and if anyone in that miserable town was stressed out then it was surely him. And god, he wasn't that damned lucky.

Doomed. He was doomed. That's all there was to it.
