Now, I admit I don't know why the Jonas brothers are so popular, but do know why the series of books is. Walter is a gentle soul with a serious gas issue that lends itself to 'hilarity ensues.' There are lessons in each book, like patience and tolerance of differences that come through the silly stories and funny illustrations.
Not to mention that the books have spent some time on the banned book list. Everyone knows banned books have the best stuff in 'em! Even if you don't have kids or think your humor is 'above' humor of the gastrointestinal variety, the series is worth a peek.
Besides, everybody farts. I don't care who you are.
