The total of the current high bids is approximately $4,000, which is well short of both our goal of $7K and the requests for assistance to this year's WisCon alone, which are currently approaching $9K. I don't know how big a push we can make in the last two days and a bit of the auction, but let's give it a shot.

If my MERP things don't sell, I'll knit up my determination and see about selling them on eBay to benefit the fund. A couple of people on Amazon were asking more than $100 for Pirates, so that should help a little (even though as smillaraaq pointed out, people don't always get the prices they ask for these things).

Hmmm ... what kind of things do you think they'd be interested to hear? I can reminisce endlessly about the UVA Historical Simulation Society and those heady early days of playing brand-new D&D, and how the people who would become ICE were trying to make a combat system with more realism, and how in the face of D&D's improper usage of Tolkien's ideas and terminology, ICE decided to put together an offer that JRRT's estate would respect.
But it's all hearsay 30+ year-old memories ... (and I was a freelancer for ICE, not an ICE employee, although I had gamed with them all at UVA HSS and outside of it since 1977 or so).
