I have a hankering to play a WoD chronicle.
I need to find people who are actually around to play.
On a related note, I'm going to totally steal an idea I saw on another Livejournal. The journal in question belongs to one of White Wolfs game developers, Matt McFarland. Basically, I'm going to create a character every day for each RPG rulebook I have in my collection. The first few days will be a lot of World of Darkness, starting with World of Darkness: Innocents by
White Wolf Game Studio. The game itself is set in the World of Darkness world (obviously) However, it gives the rules for playing children characters. And honestly, EVERYTHING is terrifying when you're a kid! I wish I could find a group to play this game.
The Game: World of Darkness: Innocents
The Publisher:
White WolfDegree of familiarity: I own and have read the book. Haven't gotten to play it yet.
Books required: The World of Darkness core rulebook and the World of Darkness: Innocents book.
1. Character Concept
Has anyone ever watched Recess as a kid (or a slightly older kid/adult)? You know, that show about the group of kids and their adventures during recess, and how they had a playground monarchy under one of the older students in the elementary school, King Bob? Well, that is what I'm basing my character off of, good old King Bob. Through out the series, he seemed like a fairly capable leader for someone who hasn't reached puberty yet, so let's see what we can do to make this character a leader. Concept = "King of the Schoolyard". As for a name, we'll get to that right now, I'm thinking "Phineas Lockwood". Regal yet simple. I figure King Phineas is in 6th grade, so we'll put him at 11. His family is well off, but he isn't spoiled at all. His parents both try to instill good ethical values in him. He's been demonstrating tendancies towards natural leadership early on. He's never a bossy kid, always fair, however he tends to get full of himself sometimes... after all, he is in charge.
2. Attributes
We have 5/4/3 to work with. I'm thinking it takes a lot of social ability to lead other school children, so Social, then mental then physical.
Social: Presence we'll set at 3, manipulation at 2, and composure at 3. A king has to have a good presence, if he's honest he wont need too much manipulative skills (just enough to get by) and of course a king has to be able to compose himself.
Mental: Intelligence we'll put at 2, he's pretty average when it comes to that... wits we'll put at 2, also. And the last two dots will go into Resolve, a good skill for a king I think.
Physical: Split even, 1 into each category. Pretty average physically.
3. Skills and skill specials.
According to the chart I get 8/5/3 to play with and two specialties. I think we'll go Social, Physical, and Mental.
Social: 2 into intimidation, something all kings should know how to do. 2 into empathy, he tries to be fair and caring. 2 into socialize, and the last two points we'll put into streetwise and subterfuge respectively.
Physical: 1 point into Athletics, Brawl, Larceny, Stealth and Survival. He knows the basics of how to take care of himself when the going gets tough.
Mental: 1 into investigation and 2 into Politics.
As for specialties, I'll take a politics specialty of "Clique Politics", good for a school yard. And my next specialty will be "Veiled Threats" for Intimidation.
Onward!
4. Merits
7 points to work with. And of course I have to take Inspiring, it's what he does best! That's one point. Next we'll take Allies 3, school children (A bit broad yes, but if I were to ever actually play this character, I'd change it at the Storytellers discretion.) I figure I don't want him to be an only child, but have an older brother who instills his wisdom and advice to young Phineas, so, Mentor 1. And finally for the last three points, I'll take Team Player. Thanks to his parents he's learned that Team Work is a great way to get things done.
5. Advantages
4 size, 8 speed, 2 defense, initiative 5. 6 Health, 6 Willpower, and 7 morality.
As for asset and fault...
I figure for Asset, it'd be brave. It's a very good leader quality, and I think Phineas exemplifies it, making tough decisions others won't (as far as playground decisions go.) For fault, I mentioned it earlier, but leader ship has made him kind of big headed... so Egotistical is proper, I think.
And that's Phineas in a nutshell. I think I'd really enjoy playing this character in an Innocents chronicle. One day, perhaps!
Tomorrows game is Vampire: The Requiem
I think I'll make a more shady sort of character or follower type, to contrast todays characters leadership quality and concept. We shall see!
