Route: Kalai-kum - Roshan
Almost all day we drove along river Panj, which divides Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The river is quite muddy, fast, and mostly narrow, so we saw a lot of Afghan villages on the other side. Most people living there are supposedly ethnically Tajik who moved to Afghanistan a while ago. Sometimes there were steep mountains on the Afghan side, usually with some incredible paths on almost vertical sides of the mountain. We saw people walking on them a couple of times. Unbelievable.
River Panj and an Afghan village on the other side
A bridge between the countries. Afghanistan on the right.
Another Afghan village.
An Afghan village zoomed in.
The dark brown patches on the mountain are the path between villages. The mountain is very steep and the path is made of something like tree branches and hay. Totally crazy.
