Hello! Maybe someone remembers my post from a few weeks ago, when I had troubles with Windows 7.
Well, I did a System Recovery a week or so later, which failed at first (I think there is a post about that, too), and then when I did another one, it seemd fine.
I thought.
Well, in the course of my re-installations and settings and so on, I found out that some programs do not work at all, some not as fully as they should, and others are only strange from time to time. Except for those that don't open from the beginning, the troubles with the others all seem to occur when they want to access any of my files, although the files themselves cannot be corrupted (I think), since other programs do open them without any troubles. Strangely enough, there are two or three that work absolutely fine.
I know this might sound a bit confusing now, so I will list the programs I tested under the cut, and also what they can do or not.
- Internet Explorer 8 (does not open)
- Windows Media Player 10(? the version that comes with Win7) (opens, but instantly freezes, with the usual "WMP caused a problem"-message)
- iTunes 9.1.1 (does not open; iPod-driver does not seem to react, either)
- Photoshop 7.0 (freezes when I want to open/save a file; sometimes not, but most of the times)
- Office 2007 (same as PS)
- Firefox 3.6.3 (dies when I want to up-/download something; mostly with uploading, DL very often work fine)
- Winrar 3.3 (dies when I want to create an archive; opening one works fine)
exceptions:
- Paint (always works)
- Winamp 5.572 (always works)
- VLC Player 1.0.5 (works fine, but is a bit slow sometimes)
does anybody have an idea what could cause this problem? I never get any specific error messages about anything and as I said, files do work with some programs when they won't with others, so I am very sorry that I cannot give any more specific infortmation about anything.
If anybody could tell me what is going on and how I can overcome it? I need things such as Photoshop and Office, not only in my freetime, but also for University...
Thanks in advance!
(PS: I use an Acer Aspire 7736ZG with an Intel Pentium T4300 and Windows 7 64Bit, if that's needed)
