i'm not sure how serious this is, but i just want to be cautious. i'm sure most windows users have heard of adobe reader, and for as long as i've had it, whenever it runs it's extremely slow and causes my computer to freeze and lag or what-have-you. i thought it was the only one having the problem, but after doing some research, it seemed adobe reader gets this kind of effect a lot.
however, my adobe reader sometimes pops up for no reason i can really figure... (normally when i'm browsing photobucket.com for some reason) and after it's done freezing and lagging, it normally doesn't do anything for a few minutes. so far though, the two times this has happened to me whilst on photobucket, after about ten minutes of no problem my computer is magically installed with an anti-virus program or something of the sort... but obviously it's spyware, considering i had no say in it, and it gives me fake, frequent alerts.
so, both times this has happened i've used system restore to eliminate it and it seems to work. seems. however, it only happens when adobe reader runs, so i uninstalled adobe reader.
first question: is uninstalling adobe reader safe? will this effect my computer during browsing the internet? (i use the latest version of mozilla firefox) and will this cause some things to run strangely? i know adobe reader can read certain documents, but i hardly ever stumble upon those types.
second question: do you think my computer is still infected with something? i have no anti-virus or any other sort of protection.
help? D: thanks so much for any feedback, i'd really appreciate it.
