Tourism Australia: Baz Luhrmann's Mini-Movie Adverts!

Oct 08, 2008 17:52

Baz Luhrmann (he of "Moulin Rouge", "Romeo and Juliet", "Strictly Ballroom" and now "Australia") has now revealed he has shot adverts for a new Tourism Australia campaign.

The idea is that Australia is a unique place where you can disconnect from your frustrating, stressful, confusing, awkward life and find yourself again by travelling here.

Above are the two ads I could find. Normal quality is okay, but the high res helps with the text.
(Both ads are a minute and a half mini-movies DIRECTED by Luhrmann himself!)

The press conference is up top, where he clarified it wasn't using footage from the FOX movie, but completely seperate footage without Jackman and Kidman.

For High Res versions:

New York:
(Once on the YT page, click "Watch in High Quality" on the page under the full screen button.)

China:
(or Japan? Ming sounds Chinese rather than Japanese.)
(Once on the YT page, click "Watch in High Quality" on the page under the full screen button.)

Thoughts on the new campaign now that it's better than the smart-arse "Where the bloody hell are ya?" campaign?
