Doctor Who Themes 1968-2008

Apr 13, 2008 03:49

Like the name says, someone went to the trouble to mix EVERY THEME from 1963 to 2008 into ONE video that plays for just over Eight Minutes!
(Rather impressive editing feat, and cool from a long time fan perspective too! I was watching the show on and off again as a little kid in the 80s, still do! First theme I heard was the one at 1:45 starring Tom Baker, who before the new series, was likely the most voted "Best Doctor".)

So enjoy likely the longest music video for a TV Theme ever!
(And they trimmed it down from the full length I'm betting! Correct me if I'm wrong fellow fans - I know a few are on my friends list.)

It's amazing that, without counting the down time, this show is now in its FOURTY-FIFTH YEAR!

Yeah, I think it's scored longest running Sci-Fi show AND longest running show!
(The former's in the Guiness Book of Records - not sure about the latter.)

What's wild about the first tune, the original theme, was they NEVER used electronic machines or any kind of traditional musical way of making it.

As far as I can recall, the buggers etched the notes into tape, edited the tape that was created among other methods, and playing it through equipment they had, which resulted in weird - but musical - tunes!
(Bear in mind, they made this PRE-SYNTHESISER!)

EDIT: Turns out this was made before Series 4 decided to ramp up the theme, which also sounds awesome! Behold!
