Bye Bye silk road

Apr 10, 2005 11:06

We were planning to do the Karakoram Silk route, supposedly departing next week but the tour was cancelled at the last minute due to low response. *sigh* I was sooo looking forward to seeing cherry blossoms and the Himalayas.

Received a call from the Red Cross on the same day just as our tour plans were cancelled. Ms E and I are going to Meulaboh (or Nias) instead! Had all the relevant shots (ouch), bags are partially packed. Clearing as much work as possible so that I will not have too much back-log to clear when I get back (and I will based on previous experience).

Briefing at the Red cross was long-winded and amusing. At the end of the 2-hr long "lecture", we left the room feeling like we would not be coming back alive. @@

Sat in on an interview for potential candidates to fill in the vacant post left behind from he-she. There were 4 short-listed but only 2 showed up. Both were not suitable so I guess it's back to the advertisers again. At this rate, we probably have to survive as a threesome team till next March when the programme officially ends.

Back to work....
