Update on my life.
I have been doing nothing for the past few weeks as I haven't had to do any uni work, I've seen The Avengers twice (OHGODTHEFEELS), am going to see Dark Shadows tomorrow, will see Prometheus at some point, did a Once Upon A Time marathon with Sean which resulted in us staying up all night, and stayed up to stream the finale live. I have a lot to say about that but it would require expending energy, which I seem biologically programmed against.
Instead, I shall inundate you with musical stuffs because I've been finding things that I love and getting back into other things. So here, have links and commentary;
I watched Inception again after a bit of a hiatus and remembered why I love the film so much, but it also reminded me how much I love
Done Stealin' by Carolina Liar. To me it totally sums up the relationship between Cobb and Mal. I mean, the whole thing is about moving on, finding something new, and letting go of the past and past mistakes. Not to mention that it sounds gorgeous, in general. Guh, I just love this band so much.
Some Nights by Fun. because oh my god, this is everything I could ever want in a song. Melody and harmonies, and jesus it's perfect. You owe it to your eternal soul to steep yourself in this masterpiece.
Kimbra. I know everyone knows her because of Somebody That I Used To Know, but I actually found out about her from a random YouTube jaunt a few months before that. She has not released nearly enough music but seriously, buy her EP, all four songs are gold -
Good Intent is my favourite. And fml because they've only just released Settle Down as a single here, when her full album is out in a couple of weeks... in America.
Eisley's The Valley. The whole album is really solid. And I'm very pleased by that 'cause I bought it on a total whim after hearing
Ambulance. It's not the kind of music that I've really been invested in before but yeah, I like all the tracks on the album and it was totally worth £6.99 for the amount of playtime it's already gotten.
Fuck you Example, y u so catchy? Playing In The Shadows is a surprisingly entertaining listen. If you didn't know, I like downloading random albums to see if I like them and then going out and buying them to assuage the guilt. This was one of them. I'm not really a fan of the club scene here, but Example is kinda hard to avoid; When he releases singles they tend to haunt everyone - someone's humming the chorus, it's on in a shop, or even a shopping centre.- but damn if he doesn't do what he does so well.
Changed The Way You Kissed Me played at my prom.
Gossip's new album released a couple of days ago. I love the whole thing. I've been a fan since I heard
Love Long Distance, even if parts of Music For Men left me a little cold, A Joyful Noise is perfect from start to finish imo. My favourite song right now has to be
Casualties of War. And finally, Marina and The Diamonds has never interested me before, but Electra Heart from what I've listened to is a pretty good album. Lots of energy and enough diversity to make it interesting. And as a recommendation;
Bubblegum Bitch.
