Today was a VERY emotional day. "Every 15 Minutes" (a program started in California many years ago) took place at De Pere High School. When the program was started every 15 minutes a person died due to an alcohol related crash. The average now is about every 30 minutes. Just watching the grim reaper walk down the hallway with the police officers sent a chill down my spine. 13 students "died" from my school today, along with that all juniors and seniors witnessed a mock car accident. It involved a student as the drunk driver and a car with 4 people, 2 who were lying on the sidewalk, one on top of the hood and the other trapped inside the vehicle. It was pretty graphic, (fake) blood everywhere, a smashed up car, frantic people running around, ambulances, squad cars, firetruck, the whole works. I couldn't help but let the tears roll, I just kept thinking to myself--what if that was me? what if that happened to someone whom I love dearly? We're all guilty of making stupid choices, like drinking and driving. It DOESN'T MATTER if you only had a couple drinks, every bit of the alcohol contributes. It makes me worry about my family (matuszewskis), they LOVE to drink. My cousins drink on a daily/weekend basis and ALWAYS drive themselves home. Rarely do I hear of someone being the DD. If you're going to drink AT LEAST be responsible. Too many lives are taken daily due to stupid choices, so please THINK before making a decision that could not only change your life, but end someones too...
