Day 2

Jan 24, 2008 14:36

((I wasn't going to continue with this, but i woke up with scene squirrels in the brain, so... here's what started as a short and scribbled rundown of the events of Gate's second day working in Reploid Research, and keeps threatening to grow. O.o ))

Gate woke up on his cot, slightly tangled in his lab coat. For a moment he just stayed there, analyzing what just happened. He'd been asleep, yes? Curiosity about this wars with curiosity about all the other things he'd planned on doing when he woke up. The latter soon won - before he could make more of a study of sleeping, he'll have to find some way to monitor himself during it. It's hard to run scans when you're unconscious.

Other things, unfortunately, included a breakfast of more Refrigerator Mystery Goop. he checked the rest of the fridge contents - there was just more goop there. The boxes he'd found above the fridge were dehydrated goop. The bottles on the same shelf were just plain water, most likely for hydrating the dehydrated goop. Oh well, at least it made the strange hungry feeling go away so that he can get to work. That's really all it was for, right?

Once that was out of the way, Gate had a whole list of things he wanted to do. Yesterday, he'd read that huge file of boring rules - most of then he'd thought were completely idiotic. He'd also examined most of the equipment in the lab, and analyzed or scanned anything he'd been curious about - in other words, almost everything. He'd soon learned he liked to analyze and scan things. It was fun.

But he'd run out of things in the room to scan before he'd gone to sleep, although he'd saved a few drawers and cabinets to check today. And there was the strange liquid-filled design capsule in the corner of the room that he'd saved for today as well. he knew what that was for... and he already had some ideas there, yes he did.

The note page currently viewable on the datapad shows a dragonfly. Not a quick scribble this time, but a very carefully done sketch with notations on the size and coloration of the creature he'd seen out the window. He'd been told if he needed any reference materials that were not already available in his lab that he was to check with Techno and Middy in the lab next to his. And so, Gate headed for the door.

There are several doors in the hallway - his was in the middle of two others, and there were more down the hall. But Gate was still easily distracted. before he made a guess as to which door to try, he decided to wander back over and look out the window again. This time, no one tried to shoo him down the hall. There wasn't anyone else in the hall to do so. The sunrise holds his attention for a while, but when a few minutes pass and he doesn't sight another dragonfly he loses interest - for now at least.

The first door he tried opened onto an empty lab. Simple process of elimination meant that he'd find Techno and Middy behind the other door. So, other door it was, and he hit the button to make it slide open. Hitting buttons is something else that Gate was rapidly starting to think of as fun. Buttons did things.
