Character Name: Hei (usually goes by the alias of 'Li Shen Shun')
Character's Age: Twenty-four.
Birthdate: 18th December.
Fandom:
Darker Than Black.
Picture:
Trench Coat,
As Li.
History: Hei was once a normal kid, with the same ambitions as everyone else around him. Until he developed the abilities of a contractor. This wasn't unheard of, but it was more a rumour more than anything else, from the first time 'hell's gates' had opened - the rumor that people developed super human abilities. When that happened, the abilities grew and grew, him becoming more in tune with the electricity powers he had inside him, and the fact he ate a massive amount when using them as a price. His eyes lost their black pupil - a common trait for contractors - but this was mainly not noticeable since his eyes are a deep blue.
The agency heard of Hei, and proceeded to take him 'in', so to speak, when he was forced to flee from his home as he wasn't able to keep his powers in check. He trained to control his powers, and worked alongside a doll, another contractor, and an ordinary human. Despite his status as a contractor, he developed a hatred for them - perhaps, since the agency usually sent him to kill or retrive information from contractors in the first place. Now days, he's a top level contractor with even a code on the police force, though he seems to do more work for them than actually against.
The agency recently stationed Hei in an apartment building in the inner city, with the guise of a normal everyday student by the name of Li, who comes from the most outer reaches of the dome. He's given various cases and people to follow, hunt down, and more likely than not, kill - or find more contractors for their cause.
I can't be 100% accurate on Hei's history (or age) since a lot of it hasn't been shown in the show yet (it's only four/five episodes in XD). When it comes to light in the series I will probably remodel/rewrite this section to fit it.
Personality: Hei is a pretty complex person. He almost has a dual personality, or at least, is a very good actor. When taking on the guise of Li, he acts timid, shy, and is a generally overly kind and good natured young man. He would dare to help anyone in trouble no matter the danger to himself - though of course, usually only people he has been sent after in his true line of work. He gets flustered easily and seems slightly distant and a bit simplistic, but still overly good natured. The sadness that seems to come from being a contractor usually pulls through when pretending to be Li - his voice getting lower when he talks about them.
However, when he drops the guise of Li, Hei is a completely different person. He is cold, though partially maintains his caring mentality - he seems to regret at times, but when it comes to contractors, not so much. He loaths contractors most, in paticular for them being liars and murderers, despite his own status as one. When given an order to chase a contractor, he'll usually bring them back dead. In fact whatever order he is given, he will usually see it through with little remorse.
Powers/Combat Skills: Hei has the power to channel electricity through objects and basically make anything electric work again. His trademark weapon is a knife on a wire, throwing the knife at a person and then sending waves of electricity down the line at them. When he kills or uses his powers, his eyes glow red. He is quite nimble and lithe, being able to jump large distances and climb buildings with ease, and run at high speeds. His jacket/trenchcoat he dons when doing his contractor duty is bullet proof, meaning he is protected from any bullets sent at him. He usually wears a mask when carrying out his duties. He is dubbed as 'Contractor BK201, The Black God of Death' by the police force.
Electricity is his power, but in exchange for that he has his price. It's not too harsh on him physically, but is on him finacially - he's forced to eat a huge amount of food after using his powers.
Extra: Hei is a contractor, meaning he lacks most compassion and the ability to feel. The following is a basic overview on each of the different variations. Contractors. Contractors are a group of people who have special superhuman abilities, ranging from pyrotechnics to controlling electricity. Each time they use one of their powers they must pay a price, for example eating flowers or breaking ones own fingers. They lack most human emotions in exchange for their powers, meaning they often end up being used as killers. They are remarked to be cold and rely on apathetic reason and logic to make decisions. Dolls. Dolls are a passive mediums created in someone elses image, and gain all memories of the person they are percieved as, and may even take their personality. Unlike contractors, they are completely emotionless. Moratorium. Moratoriums are neither a doll nor a contractor. Like contractors, they have extensive powers, but have no control over them and bypass having to a pay a price, which makes them extreamly dangerous unless turned into a contractor or doll. Only a selected few know about these things in the police force - anyone else who comes in contact with them has their memory wiped.
In canon: Hei is apart of the mysterious 'Organization' (Soshiki), alongside Yin, Mao and Huang, and carries out his missions from the agency without question. Pretty much the same as above, except his disguise as Li includes the fact he is from China.
