outside of the country and i still watch too much television

after spending an eternity at work cramming for this last minute substitution, i spend my first day in London doing basically nothing. if i had it my way, i would have actually gone out and done shit, but protocol dictates that i sit in boring ass meeting responsible for nothing and contributing nothing. that's a whole lot of nothing in so few sentences.

at any rate, i promised myself that i would actually try to enjoy this trip and go out and do all that tourist shit AND while that still might happen, since my day sucked so bad i decided to stay inside and watch the one piece of television i am going to allow myself.

the season finale of being erica.

this show came out of left field since i hadn't seen any promos; MAKES SENSE since the show is canadian and there is just not enough canadian shows released in america. the plot is pretty simple: girl's has a really bad day, girl's feels like her life sucks, girl meets weird ass therapist, therapist sends her back in time to fix her regrets. it's quantum leap meets felicity meets dr. katz.

and really, who wouldn't want to go back in time and fix all of their mistakes and regrets?

the season finale had us looking at her biggest regrets, one of the things that has been shadowed the audience since the first episode, the death of her brother. and really that was it. just another good solid episode of personal growth. that's pretty much what the entire show is about, but shown with warmth and humor without being overly sentimental. and that's why this show is going to get canceled.

yes yes, the episode ended with a cliffhanger and i think CBC (that would be the canadian broadcasting company) will go ahead with a short second season, but no one watches this show. which is a shame. it's almost like saying really well thought out shows with internal consistency, sprightly and tough female leads and a clever premise is going to fail within the first year. i guess i should just learn how to enjoy programming as it comes down the pipe.

anyways, great show, great episode, everyone should watch it.
