so, it's pretty clear that i'm a huge nerd so it comes with no surprise that i would have picked the latest "version" (i.e. - money grab) of dungeons and dragons. and while it's taken some unusual for d&d version mind twists, i think i'm comfortable with the new system. i'm not certain it's the best system to date or anything like that and i can't ( Read more... )

so... not only will it keep track of your powers, and what you have left at at-will, encounter and daily... but when it's time to level up, you can get an idea of summary stats on how often you used each one?

that is sufficiently awesome that i may have to get over my fear that someone is going to spill margarita on my laptop, and keep it open during games.

i was just chatting about this with my DM/apartmentmate, and it went something along these lines:

me: check out this omnifocus thingy.
him: this is awesome. you realize what this can let you do?
me: shit, maybe i do need to keep my laptop open during games.
him: see that's what's beautiful about it - you can work it from an iphone or itouch.
me: i have neither of those things. .... wait wtf is an itouch?
him: like an iphone without the ... phone.
me: i assume that's cheaper?
him: i guess? well, looks like no, actually, though you don't have to sign up for an ass-expensive contract.
me: so i'm back to keeping my laptop open during games, fiendishly defending it from coffee and tequila.
me: aw crapsticks, this program is macs-only anyhow.
him: well, here's a program someone made that does the same thing in a much less complex manner.
me: oh god that makes my eyes bleed.

so, pretty much what you said.
