i just finished watching a movie called the nines which was totally not what i was expecting. it's been compared to donnie darko which i think is unfair, it's not like darko was the first or even the best parallel reality mindfuck movie out there just merely the one most people know about. at any rate, i enjoyed it especially some of the themes and scenes and the acting was pretty high quality minus the bastard younger sister of dakota fanning, elle fanning. it's quirky and interesting and kinda gave you a huh moment.
BUT, the best thing about this movie is that they included a short film by the creator/writer/director john august called god (a short film) which is a fucking riot. it's seriously the best thing i've seen in the past two years. it's just a short starring melissa mccarthy, who played sookie in gilmore girls (she's also a principle in the nines itself). it's fucking great though, so don't miss it as it is pretty well hidden in the special features.
and speaking of specials, holy shit they have a bunch of specials on the dvd. i'm a commentary slut myself, so the fact that the movie has two separate commentary track and that even god (a short film) has it's own goddamn commentary is a huuuuge plus. make that a lesson to all those shitty dvd's out there with absolutely no special features. you're not helping dvd sales by neglecting them. shit, i listened to all three commentaries from all there resident evil movies, fucking pay up.
