Reviews: they are positive! Everybody loves the show! Sunshine and daisies! Critics seem to agree that this was a very strong episode to open with and that it dealt very well with the finale and the necessary wrap-up.

  • The A.V. Club gave the episode a B+ and thinks "[t]his is a very good episode of the show, but it feels very much like a series topping off its fluids and performing a few last-minute checks before leaving the garage." (They also say the episode "begins the Gillian Jacobs for the Emmy campaign", which, if I may: FUCK YEAH.) They give the show in general a really good review in order to get more viewers, and you should read the last three paragraphs to your friends on the fence about the show.
  • Alan Sepinwall at HitFix says: "After a season finale I didn't like very much, "Community" opens season two in incredibly strong form, with an episode that turned the finale threads both good (Jeff/Annie kiss), bad (Britta/Jeff/Stabler triangle) and uncertain (Pierce/Troy as roommates) to its advantage." and ends with "I love this show."
  • TV Squad thinks the episode "handily eases us back into the college's world, and deals with the worst of last season's dangling threads in a smart, satisfying way."
  • NYMag/Vulture doesn't really review but does an article about the dig at "$%!# My Dad Says" and another extremely awesome one about all the references in yesterday's episode.
  • TV Fanatic thought the premiere tackled the complain about too much romance by "playing it up and mocking it to hilarious results."
  • Clique Clack talks about Jeff/Britta and says the love triangle is handled "with the same sitcom-mocking attitude that [the show] handles everything else - and it's brilliant."
  • Daemon's TV recaps the best moments and loves that "all the secrets are now out in the open, the triangle is dealt with and if not totally resolved, at least tabled in a satisfactory way".
  • The TV obsessed this the show is amazing and the episode "was by far the funniest show of the week, with jokes coming from all direction at all times."
  • The Marquee Blog recaps and says that the show came back "none too soon".
  • Monsters Of Television praises the climax of the episode but feels that "the message of respect amongst the group does get a little lost".
  • Atomic Popcorn didn't seem to like it much and said the "biggest problem I have with Community (and Glee) is their distasteful meta-awareness".
  • Series.nu gave the episode an A- and says "the episode had me laughing throughout and was a gentle reminder to why Community is one of the best sitcoms on tv today" and mentions Alison as the standout.
  • Television Blend says "just about everything I personally like about the show was condensed and crammed into a rib-cracking, laugh inducing season premiere."
  • The Rebel Prince writes a very interesting articles and praises Joel and Gillian. He loved the opening: "Almost nothing is said, but we’re ecstatic nonetheless."
In the ratings, well, we weren't crushed at all! In the finale's review roundup I told you guys to enjoy the 2.0 because we weren't likely to see those numbers for a while. Well, we got a 2.2! That's as well as/better than most of last season. It was down from last season's premiere by a lot, but last season was after The Office rating juggernaut and a week earlier. There were 5.01 million viewers. (Numbers taken from Dan Harmon's favorite website, TVByTheNumbers.)

That's it for this week! I probably missed a ton though, so please tell me if you find anything and I'll add it to the post. Feel free to comment to this post with your reviews too.
