What a fitting send-off for Troy. For me it hit all of the right notes. The game of lava wars reminded me of past paintball episodes and was full of so many clever one-liners... Shirley island??? Magnitude yelling, "I'm actually British!!!"
I must chalk it up to Danny Pudi whose dramatic work always gets me teary-eyed.. I loved that rather than Britta and Troy trying to make Abed 'normal' to fit in with 'normal' society, they played along with his imaginative and whimsical side through the whole cloning idea... It made the pain of Troy's departure a little less terrible, and was so cute and heartwarming.
UGH and they got Levar Burton to come back???????? Perfect, perfect, perfect.
Of course I'm absolutely heartbroken that Donald chose to walk away from the show, as Troy is my hands down favorite character in the entire show. But I think the writers did right by him and I'm overall very satisfied with this episode. It won't be the same anymore, but I'm sure Dan Harmon will figure something out.
