Dear Gran,
I've been sorted into Gryffindor! I was really supr surprised, because I'm not brave or bold or even smart like dad was but the hat told me that I'm lots braver than I think I am and that it's never been wrong. I don't know how an old creepy hat can know things about me that I don't but it didn't seem polyte to argue so I didn't.
And you'll never guess who else made Gryffindor! Harry Potter! I knew he would - of course he's brave. Evryone nows that. I met him on the train when I couldn't find Trevor but I didn't now it was him at first because I didn't see his scar and I thout I lost him (Trevor not Harry) because he wasn't anywhere on the train and it wasn't until we got off the train and on the boats at the lake with this man Hagrid - he's HUGE! must be ten feet tall! honest! And he looks really scary with all this bushy hair and a beard that hides his hole face, and I was scared at first but he was nice and he found Trevor for me so I guess he's alright. Hermiy Hermyonee (a girl I met on the train and she's Gryffindor too and she talks a lot) said he's the game keeper.
Hogwarts is huge! The cieling in the Great Hall looked just like the real sky! And there were candles floating in the air like at Auntie Enid's but lots more (at least a hundred!) and Headmaster Dumbledore was really odd and told us that the forest was forbiden (and one of the older boys told me there are werewolfs and vampires who live in there!!!) and we're not allowd in the third floor coridor and Dumbledore said we'd die if we went but you don't have to worry about me because I won't be going there or in the forest.
The feast was really good. I never saw so much food! They must have at least a hundred house elfs! The Gryffindor ghost - his name is Nearly Hed Headless Nick, came to our table and took his head off - well almost - he just pulled on his ear and it opened just like your old joolery box and it was really disgusting. But Shamus (he's another boy in my year) thought it was cool.
The other boys in my House are Ron Weazly and Dean, but I forget his last name. Anyway I'm really tired. I didn't unpack yet but I will tomorrow, and I put Trevor in his box under my bed so he won't get lost, and I wanted to send you a letter so you didn't worry for me and because you told me to. I can't send it until morning because it's late and I don't have an owl and anyway I forgot the password. I'll write again soon and tell you about my classes.
Love,
