Dear Evelyn,
Are you spending Christmas in London? or are you going to Warrick to see your grandparents’?
I’ll be at school this year. Father doesn’t want me home. It’s still not safe in London, and I think he got very scared last year. I’m worried that mother is getting worse. I hope to go home for Easter, though, and so we should be able to see each other again then.
Minerva and Elizabeth are both going home to their families, and Tom is always unpredictable. Olive and I aren’t talking either, so it’s going to be a lonely holidays. We have to work together, but I’m not sure how well we’re going to do. I don’t know what she thinks of me anymore.
This is a very depressing letter, so I’ll stop writing now. I was ill last week, and Father was quite annoyed at me. I’m not allowed to go outside until the snow melts - except for Astronomy classes, of course.
