PENELOPE CLEARWATER: 5 September 1987

Hello all!

Here we are again and this time I hope I can give you more of an idea of what things are like here as I have a little more time to write. To start, I’m more than pleased to be in Ravenclaw. So far people seem rather nice (but then, it’s not as if we’re competing for marks yet!). I am living with four other girls in my dormitory. They are: Julie Shepard, Eileen Bailey, Clara Chapman and Sophie Gwynn. We’ve all been rather shy around each other so far, but I think that should change as we all get more accos accustomed to it here. There are six boys in my year as well, but I haven't learnt all their names yet.

Our Head of House is a funny little man called Professor Flitwick who teaches Charms. I should say that ‘little’ is really an understatement. He’s very small - about the same height as your average goblin - but he’s very cheerful and clever and I must say that I’m fond of his class already.

Although we all eat our meals at our own House tables, I am getting to know some of the boys and girls in the other Houses during lessons. (Make sure to let Nan know that we have Potions with the Hufflepuffs!) Most have been very nice, or at the very least, not horrid. except for some of the Slyth I know you always tell me to judge people by their actions, Dad, and not by how they seem and I am trying to do just that.

I’m trying to think of more to write, but it’s just not coming together in my head. Too much flying about in my brain all at once, I think. Still, things are shaping up to be grand. I’ve been away just long enough now that I’m starting to miss everyone, but never fear! No sign of homesickness yet. I expect that to settle in by the end of next week.

I suppose I should wrap this up as I’ve homework to get to. More and more soon.

Give Reece an extra hug from his biggest sister.

I love you all,
