Dave went to the 80s club in August, he says it played the worst of 80s music, but he would go back.

What did you think of the review of The Adjacent in the last but one (10 Oct) LRB?

I imagined that was the case re. 80s - it has an image of Jacko on the poster. I'm sure, though, there will be one or two good tracks thrown in amongst the Gina Gs and Sonias.

Hadn't read the review for The Adjacent - have saved it for tomorrow morn!

Ok, I've read the review... ouch! But I've never read Christopher Priest so can't really comment. Why do you ask?

Oh, just because it took in sci-fi as a whole, rather than just reviewing one authors and I wondered if you had an opinion on the article is all.

Ah! Well, that sci-fi argument has popped up elsewhere these past few years, most notably in the friendly disagreements between Le Guin and Atwood. It's good for the genre to be discusses; I wish I read more of it and understood the bigger picture!
