I called him an idiot because of the "what if your mom had an abortion with you" arguement. LAME. My mom actually got pregnant with me when she was 40, 8 years after my brother and after a week of getting off the pill thinking she was menopausal anyway. Her doctor actually told her to consider having an abortion because back then (30 years ago) there wasn't amniocentesis and there was a high chance she'd have diabetes, high blood pressure, and have a baby with down syndrome. He told her to think about it. My dad told her it was up to her and he'd support her no matter her decision (My dad rules). She said it was basically a dream she had that night of me being born healthy that made her decide to have me. But honestly when she told me that story I wasn't thinking "good thing my mom didn't abort me!" I thought, "how scary for my mom to spend 9 months worrying about if she could do this and risking her health like that." So anyhow...another thing in MY opinion - there are many children up for adoption but if you aren't a white baby then you'll probably not get adopted so I don't think adoption is a good choice either. I also hate when MEN want to make decisions about women's reproductive rights. In my criminal justice class we learned the FBI's top 10 abortion terrorists most wanted were all men.

I've actually met two. That was incredibly surprising, because they seemed so very open-minded about things. And they were vehemently pro-life, which was very bizarre to me. Both big Catholic upbringings, too.

on the roe v. wade anniversary a few years ago, i showed up with others to protest a pro life group's "vigil" on the steps of the tuscaloosa county court house. i ran into my chick spanish student teacher on the other side of the picket line. there are plenty of female pro lifers out there. many of them went to my high school and had babies that their parents were forced to bring up. oh the bible belt.
