And from nothing he manifests an idea!
So, I had a thought today and it blew my mind. Tell me what you think:
I keep, I think at last count, seven or eight different notebooks, memo pads, and/or Word folders full of junk. Ideas, jokes, short stories, plans, outlines, aspirations, novel [new] ideas, and novel [book] ideas. Nothing ever seems to come of any of it, but it's nice to have it all written down somewhere.
Well, I was reading through what I had written down in the notebook I keep at work - it's a bright purple, spiral-bound, college-ruled Top Flight number labeled "Notes/Thoughts" in the top right-hand corner. Not much to look at, and certainly not the finest of notebooks-full-of-notes I posess, but free courtesy of RelayHealth. Thanks guys, and keep up the 401(k) matching!
Anyway, this one's primary purpose is to record disjointed, incomplete, fragmented thoughts as they pop into my head while I'm trying to accomplish something that will make my boss proud. Most of these involve some sort of innane observation about human behavior - racism vs. culturalism, the Walter Complex (I'll explain that one later), relationships, corporate life vs. actual life, success, failure, why people like other people, why people don't like other people, etc. I glanced through these and the first thought that popped into my head was, "Wow, this book looks like excerpts from 'The Cool People's Gospel'".
Now, that publication does not exist as far as I'm aware. But it could! This is the part that blew my mind, so make sure you're sitting down:

That's right, I accidentally thought myself up a column! Well, as much as any LiveJournal can be considered a column.
I'm going to try and do one once a week. Why? Because a weekly column requires self-discipline, and I have none. (PS, to anyone who has regularly read my LiveJournal: remember when I was going to be a comedian? Whatever happened to that?) So, prepare yourself for the first Excerpt this week, which I will post on Friday.
Also, PLEASE send ideas. I have none of those either.
