13 Trece; Saint Valentines Day

 [Cuba's been home most of the day, reading the paper and trying to forget about the fact that he now had to deal with Spain here.

Oh he'd gone out this morning to buy some flowes for Leliana. But that was about it.

Right now he's in the living room, either reading the sports section, or glancing at the Cuban flag on the wall. Or a bit of both

[Leliana has spent most of the morning in the library, reading up on this Valentine's Day thing that people have been talking about. Thankfully, the library counts 'romantic holiday advice' as appropriate reading material for women, so she's actually been able to find a lot of information ranging from the holiday's origins to some current means of celebrating it. From what she can gather, today is a day to celebrate romance and True Love and buying people pretty things. This, of course, means one thing:

Valentine's Day is Leliana's new favorite holiday.Cuba is the closest thing she has to a lover in Mayfield (which is not at all a bad thing--she very much likes her not!husband), so she has decided come hell or high water that they are celebrating. She purchases some wine and the necessary ingredients for a Nice Dinner. She would have also bought him those cigars that he likes except she doesn't know which cigars he actually likes and is pretty sure she can't buy them in an American town even if she did

[He glances away from the flag...I mean paper.]

Leliana...?

[He then realizes what she said and he grins.]

Oh yeah. Happy Valentines Day.

I've never heard of this holiday before, but it sounds wonderful. So, I decided we should try to celebrate it as well as we can.

[She's completely oblivious to the fact that over half the town is currently dealing with emotional baggage right now. Oops.]

How does dinner and ice cream sound to you?

That sounds great....so long as we don't go to that French place again.

[Cardboard is not fun to eat.]

No, no, I would not put you through that. [She was a LOT more disappointed than he was that night. This town ruins everything.]

I will be making dinner.

[Yeah...not fun.]

You sure? It is supposed to be a holiday after all.

Part of the holiday is about how you're supposed to do something nice for a person you care for, isn't it? I do not mind.

[He grins and rubs the back of his neck.]

That reminds me. I got you something.

[And he'll just be a moment but he comes back into the room with a bouquet of pink and purple roses]

[Leliana's eyes go wide with surprise; she honestly hadn't expected him to do anything! Approval +10.

She gives him a hug.] They're beautiful! Thank you so much!

[Like he could do that.]

I'm glad you like them.

[And she's off to go put them in some water. You're such a great not!husband, Cuba.]

[Leliana comes back from putting the flowers in a vase and gives him a smile.]

Shall I start dinner, then?

Sure...

[He glances over at the wall again.]

....Oh yeah. I need to talk to you about something too.

Oh? What is it?

[Might as well get it over with.]
