The room's dark, except for the one lamp in the corner for Spencer, but his boy is still trembling despite everything Eliot can think of. Eliot runs a calloused hand up and down the boy's back slow, making soothing sounds.

Tightening his arms Eliot closes his eyes and wishes he could take Spencer away from all of this death, away from the pain and heartache he gets when a case goes so dark, but he knows he can't. Despite all the broken bits he's got right now, he knows Spencer. Knows what leaving will do to him.
